Software Engineer IV (Staff)/Platform Developer
About the role
Biolinq is a venture-backed digital health company developing a wearable biosensor platform that measures biomarkers important to the management of many clinical conditions including diabetes. This dynamic role is a part of a team of engineers and scientists developing a novel intradermal biosensor technology and the associated software data extraction and rendering SDK that will transform the way people manage their metabolic health.
Responsibilities
- Works independently and may lead a team to produce working and tested software within the software discipline and language specialty of the engineer.
- Independently solves engineering problems for individual microservices or applications.
- Works with stakeholders to define software requirements.
- Uses direct measurements to make estimates of load capacity, response time, or UI responsiveness for a microservice or application.
- Proactively identifies potential bottlenecks that may need to be addressed.
- Identifies and communicates trade-offs within a system design between competing solutions and regularly makes the best choice for the company.
- Accurately estimates the time to complete applications or services.
- Proposes and, with approval, implements projects that support the strategic objectives of the company.
- Acts as the technical lead on important projects while leading, mentoring, developing, and guiding one or more engineers.
- Writes and maintains unit tests to satisfy target code coverage.
- Produces documentation required by Biolinq’s Quality System to maintain regulatory compliance.
- Prepares documentation necessary to install, operate, and maintain as needed.
- Safeguards sensitive data and proprietary processes.
- Maintains strict discretion over operational, financial, and customer data.
- Maintains existing Biolinq software including fixing bugs and enhancing features.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or higher degree in computer science or equivalent technical field of study.
- 5+ years of professional software development experience.
- Professional experience designing, developing, and maintaining production quality software in Go.
- Experience developing APIs in modern applications (e.g., REST, gRPC, GraphQL).
- Proven experience with Postgres and other SQL / NoSQL databases.
- Deep knowledge and experience with containerization, knowledge of CI tooling, testing frameworks and other code quality tools are crucial.
- Proficiency in C/C++ and Python is a plus.
- Experience in regulated medical devices (510(k), PMA, HIPAA) is a plus.
- Excellent written and oral communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Leadership Skills: Ability to lead teams and influence organizational strategy to include mentorship and coaching, influencing without authority, conflict resolution, emotional intelligence, delegation, and empowerment.
- Soft Skills: High ownership and accountability; comfortable with ambiguity and change; patience and empathy, calm and solution-oriented under pressure; effective communication across technical and non-technical audiences.

Pay
The U.S. base salary range reasonably expected to be paid for this role is: $150,000 to $175,000. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. Actual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors that are unique to each candidate including, but not limited to: skill set, depth of experience, education, certifications, and specific work location.
Schedule
General office environment. Willingness and ability to work on site. May have business travel up to 10% in a year.
