Software Engineer Intern
About the role
As a Software Engineer Intern at IQAir’s North American headquarters in La Mirada, California, you will work hands-on in the full software development life cycle. This opportunity allows you to enhance your programming skills, understand system architecture, and collaborate on impactful projects. You will actively participate in designing, coding, testing, and debugging software components while gaining exposure to practical challenges and real-world problem-solving. Experienced engineers will mentor you to strengthen your technical expertise and professional skills, including foundational site reliability engineering (SRE) practices such as monitoring system health and understanding production behavior.

Responsibilities
- Assist in the conceptualization, design, development, testing, and maintenance of commercial web applications
- Collaborate with senior developers on various software development projects
- Apply user-centered design principles in software development
- Participate in agile development processes and team meetings
- Contribute to the improvement of existing software and the creation of new features
- Research, investigate, and fix a wide range of technical issues
- Support basic SRE activities, including:
- Monitoring application logs and dashboards for errors or anomalies
- Reviewing system alerts and escalating issues when necessary
- Assisting in tracking service performance, uptime, and reliability metrics
- Helping maintain documentation for operational procedures and incident handling
Requirements
- Recent graduate of a bachelor’s degree in computer science, a related field, or equivalent experience
- Experience with various programming languages
- Proficient using Windows and Microsoft Office suite products
- Able to pass a pre-employment background and drug screen
May be required to attend and participate in professional development activities both in and outside the company to stay abreast of new developments and best practices.

Pay
The base pay range for this position is $27 to $30 hourly, depending on skills, qualifications, and experience.
