Software Engineer III - Android Engineer
About the role
This role is responsible for developing and delivering complex requirements to accomplish business goals within Enterprise Payments Technology (EPT), a global payments team that provides a wide range of financial platforms and services. EPT facilitates the movement of roughly $693 trillion through approximately 18.8 billion transactions annually, serving over 66 million consumer/small business relationships and 2 million wealth management clients.
The Merchant Business Software Suite (MBSS) team is leading a large-scale, multi-year program to deliver a scalable and customizable point-of-sale software across multiple industry verticals, stemming from a recent strategic acquisition to broaden the Bank’s Merchant Services capabilities.
Responsibilities
- Code solutions and unit tests to deliver requirements/stories per defined acceptance criteria and compliance requirements.
- Design, develop, and modify architecture components, application interfaces, and solution enablers while maintaining principal architecture integrity.
- Mentor software engineers and coach the team on Continuous Integration and Continuous Development (CI-CD) practices and automation tool stacks.
- Execute story refinement, define requirements, and estimate work necessary to realize a story through the delivery lifecycle.
- Perform spikes/proofs of concept to mitigate risk or implement new ideas.
- Automate manual release activities.
- Design, develop, and maintain automated test suites (integration, regression, performance).
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience coding solutions and unit testing to deliver requirements/stories per defined acceptance criteria and compliance requirements.
- 3+ years of experience designing, developing, or modifying architecture components, application interfaces, and solution enablers while ensuring principal architecture integrity.
- Proven experience with Java and Kotlin for Android applications in production-level environments.
- Strong understanding of RESTful APIs and JSON.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Git, and Agile development methodologies.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with Point of Sale (POS) applications or terminal development.
- Preferred experience with payment gateways, mobile app development, or Android development.
- Experience in merchant services, payments, or EMV (including EMV certifications).
