About the role

As a seasoned member of an agile team, you will design and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. You are responsible for carrying out critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm's business objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain Android features using Kotlin/Java, delivering high-quality user experiences across devices and OS versions.
  • Lead implementation for moderately complex initiatives (UI flows, data/state management, offline/error handling) and contribute to technical design decisions.
  • Integrate with backend services (REST/GraphQL), implement secure authentication flows, and ensure safe handling of local storage and network communications.
  • Build and maintain automated tests (unit, instrumentation, UI) and improve app stability (crash reduction, ANR/performance tuning).
  • Drive CI/CD improvements for Android builds (lint/static analysis, test automation, signing/release workflows).
  • Use JP Morgan Chase-approved AI-assisted tools (e.g., Claude AI where approved) to accelerate refactoring, test generation, and documentation with rigorous validation.

Requirements

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 3+ years applied experience.
  • Strong hands-on Android development experience with Kotlin, Android SDK, and modern architecture patterns (e.g., MVVM/Clean Architecture).
  • Experience building UI using Jetpack Compose and/or XML, including accessibility and responsive layout practices.
  • Experience with mobile testing practices and frameworks (unit + instrumentation/UI tests) and troubleshooting complex issues.
  • Experience implementing/improving CI/CD for mobile (automated builds, quality gates, release processes).
  • Disciplined experience using AI coding assistants (Claude AI or equivalent where approved) with verification and secure usage practices.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with modularization, shared libraries, and scaling Android codebases across teams.
  • Experience with performance profiling and stability tooling (startup time, memory, crash analytics, ANR monitoring).
  • Familiarity with mobile security best practices (OWASP MASVS awareness, secure networking, secrets handling, certificate pinning where applicable).
  • Experience with release strategies (feature flags, phased rollouts) and operational readiness (runbooks, monitoring).
  • Experience mentoring engineers and improving delivery metrics (cycle time, defect escape, app stability).
