Software Development Manager , Lambda MicroVMs
About the role
We are looking for a software development manager to lead feature development for the AWS Lambda MicroVMs. This role requires ownership, autonomy, and an ability to deliver results. You should be a self-starter with a bias towards independent problem solving. Clear communication and prioritization will be important as you partner with Product Management to plan and deliver experiences for customers of Lambda MicroVMs. You have a passion for managing complex technology projects and helping the team make strong business judgments.
Responsibilities
- Own and drive the development of new and existing systems for Lambda MicroVMs
- Collaborate with Product Management to define and prioritize features
- Partner with cross-functional teams to design and implement scalable solutions
- Ensure high-quality, reliable, and secure systems
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders, including customers, product managers, and senior leadership
- Manage the development lifecycle from conception through deployment
- Lead and mentor a team of software engineers
Requirements
- 3+ years of engineering team management experience
- 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience
- 3+ years of designing or architecting new and existing systems experience
- 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi-tier web services experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams
Qualifications
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and live site operations
- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

Pay
The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location. Schedule
This position involves on-call responsibilities, typically for one week every two months. We don’t like getting paged in the middle of the night or on the weekend, so we work to ensure that our systems are fault tolerant. When we do get paged, we work together to resolve the root cause so that we don’t get paged for the same issue twice.
