About the role

Grow and lead a team building the next-generation SDN for AWS networking services.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team towards building a new platform implementing new features within AWS VPC, and making it work at extraordinary scale.
  • Solve complex software problems and make impactful trade-offs between short-term and long-term results.
  • Think in terms of architecture, not just code, and help elevate AWS's ability to build and operate high availability systems worldwide.
  • Provide leadership and management for a development team to innovate and deliver core control plane software required to support EC2 Networking organization.
  • Work hands-on with the team to set realistic delivery targets while insisting on the highest standards.
  • Earn trust with the team, leadership, and our partners with clear, honest communication, delivering results, and embracing a bias for action.
  • Emphasize hiring and developing the best talent at AWS.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of engineering team management experience
  • 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience
  • 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
  • Experience partnering with product or program management teams

  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
  • Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
  • Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

Pay

Base salary range: $212,700.00 - $287,700.00 USD annually
