About the role
This position involves on-call responsibilities typically for two weeks every 2-3 months. The first week is primary and the second week is secondary on-call. We don't like to get paged in the middle of the night or on the weekend, so we work to ensure our systems are fault tolerant. When we do get paged, we work together to resolve the root cause to prevent pages for the same issues twice.
Responsibilities
- Manage the network route enabling communication between Outpost and its associated AWS Region
- Perform transformations and validations on packets both to and from the AWS Region
- Set up and manage network configuration
- Push network configurations to other Outpost services
- Inspect packets
- Set up and manage the logical interconnect virtual router that enables communication between Outpost and customer on-premise network
Requirements
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience
- 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using: C#, C++, Java, or Perl experience
- 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience
- Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Pay
Salary range for this role supports U.S. $150,000 - $200,000 annually, depending on candidate qualifications and location.
Schedule
Typically, on-call responsibilities involve one week every two months.
