Software Development Manager, API Gateway Workflows Team
About the role
API Gateway is a critical component of the Serverless revolution, enabling customers to deploy scalable, fault-tolerant applications without needing to manage underlying infrastructure. This role involves leading a team of engineers to deliver high-impact, scalable software that protects millions of customer workloads.
Responsibilities
- Manage team performance, career development, and growth through regular coaching, mentorship, and feedback
- Evaluate trade-offs between operational excellence and feature development, balancing short-term needs with long-term architectural goals
- Collaborate cross-functionally with security, networking, and infrastructure teams to deliver integrated solutions
- Own the outcomes of a team delivering high-impact software that protects millions of customer workloads
- Work with other leaders across the organization to ensure API Gateway is delivering high impact projects for our customers
Requirements
- 3+ years of engineering team management experience
- 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience
- 3+ years of designing or architecting new and existing systems experience
- 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi-tier web services experience
- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
Qualifications
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams
