About the role

The selected individual(s) will perform software development activities on a large, complex program using agile development. The program uses Behavior Driven Development (BDD) and test automation tools alongside a full suite of team collaboration tools. Program execution follows DEVOPS best practices and employs robust development, test, and production environments.

Responsibilities

  • Completing software development tasks individually and/or as a member of an agile team.
  • Using design software tools, providing support using formal specifications, data flow diagrams, and other accepted design techniques, and ensuring developed code is modifiable, efficient, reliable, understandable, fault tolerant, and reusable.
  • Providing software process management and control throughout the coding portion of the software development process.
  • Promoting code reuse and cross-program collaboration by creating common functions and shared actions for developers and testers.
  • Participating in peer code reviews to improve the quality of code written by other team members.
  • Creating new applications or updating existing applications based on user requirements.
  • Communicating with team members about project status and issues that arise.
  • Debugging computer code to fix errors and improve performance.
  • Testing software for bugs or other issues that may affect functionality or the user experience.
  • Reviewing documentation about new technology releases or product updates to ensure understanding of how the new system works.
  • Conducting research on new technologies and techniques to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Analyzing data to identify trends and formulate solutions.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, going into the Junior or Senior level.
  • Experience with at least one major programming language (e.g., Java, C++, Python).
  • Excellent problem solving and debugging skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • US Citizenship required.
  • Ability to obtain a TS/SCI with Polygraph clearance before start date.

Qualifications

  • Java coding experience.
  • Strong understanding of object-oriented programming concepts.
  • Experience with multiple programming languages.
  • Experience with software development tools (e.g., Eclipse, Visual Studio, Git).
  • Experience with databases (e.g., MySQL, Oracle, MongoDB).
  • Experience with web development technologies (e.g., HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP).

Skills

  • Experience with agile development methodologies.
  • Knowledge of Behavior Driven Development (BDD).
  • Experience with test automation tools.
  • Understanding of DEVOPS best practices.
  • Experience with software development tools (e.g., Eclipse, Visual Studio, Git).
  • Experience with databases (e.g., MySQL, Oracle, MongoDB).
  • Experience with web development technologies (e.g., HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP).

Benefits

Pay Range: $48,100.00 - $86,950.00

Schedule

The selected individuals will work full time during their Summer break from college and potentially part time during the school year.
