Key job responsibilities
- Design the future of AWS security architecture
- This position isn't about maintaining existing systems, it's about architecting the next generation of protection mechanisms that will defend AWS and its customers for years to come
- You'll be working on existing and greenfield projects that will shape how we detect, mitigate, and prevent attacks at unprecedented scale and in real-time
- Members of the team work closely across research and DDoS response teams, to build the solutions to stop Layer 3/4 and Layer 7 attacks more effectively

AWS Shield is part of AWS Infrastructure Services which owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain and we’re looking for talented people who want to help.
Basic Qualifications
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience
- 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using: C#, C++, Java, or Perl experience
- 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience
- Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
