About the Role

Amazon Aurora is a MySQL/PostgreSQL-compatible, relational database engine that combines the speed and availability of high-end commercial databases with the simplicity and cost-effectiveness of open source databases. It provides up to five times better performance than MySQL/PostgreSQL at a price point one tenth that of a commercial database while delivering similar performance and availability.

Responsibilities

  • Build services that run across thousands of servers in multiple datacenters worldwide and powers Amazon Aurora service.
  • Own the design and development of significant system software components critical to our industry storage services architected for the cloud.
  • Deliver solid code that has a broad business impact.
  • Work safely and cooperatively with other employees, supervisors, and staff.
  • Adhere to standards of excellence despite stressful conditions.
  • Communicate effectively and respectfully with employees, supervisors, and staff to ensure exceptional customer service.
  • Follow all federal, state, and local laws and Company policies.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
  • 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience
  • 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using: C#, C++, Java, or Perl
  • 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience
  • Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Skills

Experience programming with at least one software programming language
