About the role
This is skilled specialized work in the operation and maintenance of the Advanced Pelletizer Facility. Involves removing the water from the sludge with belt presses. Performs the operation and maintenance of the pumps, motors, and conveyor belts. A working knowledge of plumbing, electrical panels and basic wiring is required. Candidate must be knowledgeable of and have the ability to implement State and local regulations and codes associated with biosolids operations.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the daily repair, operation, and maintenance activities required to properly operate the pelletizer facility.
- Knowledge of and ability to implement State and local regulations and codes associated with biosolids operations.
- Work with others to ensure safe and efficient operation and maintenance of a wide variety of equipment including separator screens, belt and screw conveyors, natural gas fired burners, pumps, belt filter presses, natural gas system, digester equipment, and a variety of analytical sampling devices.
- Reads and records mechanical and electrical meters.
- Reads and understand mechanical, electrical flow charts, and SCADA system.
- Retrieves and processes various sludge samples.
- Maintains and documents daily, weekly, monthly, semi-annual, and annual schedules of equipment preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities.
- Maintains, installs, and repair electrical equipment, including motors, generators, transformers, panel boards, electronic devices, and burner controls.
- Maintains, installs, and repairs chemical feed lines, polymer equipment, sludge lines, and utility gas lines.
- Maintains database specifically designed to track biosolids distribution and silo storage levels.
- Maintain clear, concise, and thorough daily logbook and operational data sheet entries.
- Reads mechanical and electronic meters and logs the recording.
- Performs general housekeeping duties such as painting, sweeping, mopping, cleaning equipment, dusting, and hosing.
- Performs related work as required.
Requirements
- Training and Experience: High school diploma or GED supplemented by courses in math and chemistry preferred. Two years experience in electro-mechanical maintenance supplemented with a year of belt filter press operation, and a year of boiler operation preferred; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of the methods and techniques used in the installation, operation, repair, and maintenance of a wide variety of mechanical and electro-mechanical equipment associated with biosolids management. Ability to perform inspections to determine operational conditions and work from sketches and simple blueprints. Ability to follow written and oral instructions. Skilled in the use of mechanic’s tools and shop equipment. Ability to read meters and charts accurately, and maintain precise, concise records. Ability to work in adverse conditions. Ability to perform shift work as assigned. Basic knowledge of sampling procedures required.
Qualifications
