Sociology Instructor - Part-time Adjunct Pool

About the role

Kern Community College District is accepting applications for part-time, hourly adjunct instructors to staff Sociology courses. Applications remain active for up to two years and may be contacted immediately if a need arises. The hourly rate starts at $66.00/hour and may vary based on assignment type and the Lecture Hour Equivalent (LHE) formula as outlined in the CCA collective bargaining agreement.

Minimum Qualifications

• Master’s in Sociology
• OR Bachelor’s in Sociology and Master’s in Anthropology, Ethnic Studies, Social Work, or Psychology
• OR the equivalent as determined through the Application for Equivalence process

Degrees must be from accredited institutions. Foreign degrees require evaluation by a NACES or ACEI member service.

Knowledge & Abilities

• Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations and colleagues
• Capacity to develop curriculum across modalities
• Skill in assessing student learning outcomes and maintaining subject-matter currency
• Proficiency with computers and openness to adopting new instructional technologies
• Commitment to the California community college mission
