About the role

The event is a recruitment fair for state careers at Windward Community College, Kāneōhe, HI, on August 7, 2026, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Responsibilities

  • Seek to improve the quality of life for people within their environment through problem remediation and prevention.
  • Establish working relationships with clients and utilize various helping interventions to enable effective client functioning.
  • Work in various settings such as hospitals, social service agencies, schools, correctional facilities, and programs related to substance abuse, aging, and family violence.
  • Perform full range of professional human services work for a caseload of predominantly complex cases.
  • Utilize established policies and procedures and casework skills to address routine aspects of casework.
  • Spend a significant portion of time in direct performance of work typical of a Social Worker or Human Services Professional III and concurrently supervise a small group of less experienced professionals.

Requirements

  • Legal Authorization to Work: Must be a citizen, national, or permanent resident alien of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.
  • Education:
    • Master's degree in social work from a program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education, or a doctoral degree in social work from a college or university accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.
    • Bachelor's degree in social work or a related field from a regionally accredited four-year college or university, with a minimum of 12 semester credit hours in courses such as counseling, criminal justice, human services, psychology, social work, social welfare, sociology, or other behavioral sciences.
  • Specialized Experience:
    • One year for Social Worker II, III, and IV with a Bachelor of Social Work degree.
    • None for Social Worker II, III, and IV with a Master of Social Work degree.
    • One year for Human Services Professional II, III, and IV with a Bachelor's degree.
    • Two and one-half years for Human Services Professional II, III, and IV with a Ph.D. degree in Social Work.
  • Driver's License: Some positions may require a valid driver's license at the time of appointment.
  • Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) Requirement: Required for positions located in a correctional facility.
