About the role

The Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation seeks to recruit a Social Worker or Human Services Professional II to support the mission of improving the quality of life for individuals within various settings.

Responsibilities

• Helping individuals and their families identify and cope with their problems.
• Providing services in a variety of settings including hospitals, social service agencies, schools, correctional facilities, and programs addressing substance abuse, aging, and family violence.
• Utilizing professional concepts, principles, and techniques to enable clients to function effectively within their environments.
• Assisting in the remediation and prevention of client problems.
• Improving accessibility, accountability, and coordination of service delivery among professionals and agencies.
• Working with diverse types of people and utilizing a range of helping interventions.
• Continuing to receive training in professional human services work and being assigned increasingly complex cases.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or master's degree in social work from a Council on Social Work Education-accredited program, or a doctoral degree in social work from a regionally accredited college or university.
• Six months of specialized experience in helping individuals and their families find satisfactory ways of coping with their conditions and functioning effectively within their environments.
• Relevant substitutions for specialized experience as described in the Minimum Qualification Requirements.
• Applicants who will graduate within three months with a Bachelor of Social Work degree or applicable Master's degree must submit an official transcript and a letter verifying current enrollment and major.
• Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) compliance.

Qualifications

• Citizenship or eligibility for permanent residency in the United States.
• Completion of a college or university curriculum leading to a baccalaureate degree, including relevant coursework.
• Drug screening and background check as required by Federal, State, or local laws or departmental policy.
• Valid driver's license for some positions.
