Responsibilities

  • Provides individual, family, and group therapy to meet caseload requirements.
  • Develops and writes admission assessments, treatment plans, and discharge summaries within established time frames and formats.
  • Serves as a liaison with families, outside agencies, and referral sources.
  • Assesses, designs, structures, and implements therapy services to meet the needs of patients and families.
  • Operates in accordance with the CMS Standards of Practice for Psychiatric Mental Health Care and the hospital’s mission, values, policies, and behavioral standards.

Qualifications

  • Experience: Two years post-graduate work experience in mental health or related field preferred; two years direct practice experience and/or clinical training specific to individual, family, and group therapy (if specialized issues group, training must be specific to issue).
  • Education: Master's degree from an accredited college or university in a mental health field required.
  • Licensure/Certification: Current certification or licensure by the State of Louisiana (LCSW, LPC, or LMFT) or under supervision pursuing licensure for LCSW, LPC, or LMFT.
  • Knowledge: Good clinical skills to assess dynamics accurately and develop effective treatment strategies within the context of the overall treatment plan; good analytical ability to evaluate information reported by all members of the treatment team and revise treatment strategies accordingly; communication and teamwork abilities to support clinicians, nurses, and utilization review colleagues working with the population; working knowledge of appropriate referral resources within the community and organizational skills to engage in case management, including discharge planning.

About the Role

River Oaks Hospital is seeking a dynamic and talented Social Worker/Therapist. The position reports to the Clinical Services Director or the director of outpatient Services and provides individual, family, and group therapy to meet caseload requirements. Responsibilities include developing and writing admission assessments, treatment plans, and discharge summaries within established time frames and formats. The therapist also serves as a liaison with families, outside agencies, and referral sources, assessing, designing, structuring, and implementing therapy services to meet the needs of patients and families. Duties are performed in accordance with the CMS Standards of Practice for Psychiatric Mental Health Care and the hospital’s mission, values, policies, and behavioral standards.
