Social Worker II - HHS Adult Services
About the role
Apart from the Department of Health and Human Services, several other departments within Baltimore County Government may have openings for the Social Worker II - Adult Services position. Applicants must possess a master's degree in social work from an accredited institution and two years of relevant experience. Preference is given to those with experience working with vulnerable adults, knowledge of mental health and substance use disorder treatment, and the ability to work independently.
Responsibilities
- Conducts screening and intake for the Respite Program, assisting families in accessing supportive services.
- Investigates, evaluates, and monitors individual cases, developing treatment/service plans.
- Provides crisis intervention and individual/group counseling to clients and their families.
- Makes home visits and provides transportation for patients/clients, assisting in emergencies.
- Attends training and seminars to stay updated on best practices and new developments.
- Participates in meetings and consults with other professionals to address client needs.
- Maintains accurate records of client activities and prepares various reports and correspondence.
- Performs case management and develops public awareness and education programs.
Requirements
To be considered for this position, applicants must hold a valid Maryland driver’s license and possess a license as a Licensed Certified Social Worker (LCSW) from the Maryland Board of Social Work Examiners. A clinical LCSW license may also be required for some positions. Applicants must also submit proof of licenses, certifications, and education beyond high school.
Qualifications
- Master's degree in social work from an accredited college or university.
- Two years of experience rendering professional social work services.
- Knowledge of mental health and substance use disorder treatment and resources.
- Detail-oriented and capable of managing multiple tasks independently.
- Ability to work collaboratively with various community agencies.
- LCSW-C certification is preferred.
Skills
Proficiency in social work principles, excellent communication skills, strong organizational abilities, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment are essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is also required.

The starting salary for this position is determined by the County's pay schedule and may vary based on experience and qualifications. Annual reviews may lead to step increases.
Schedule
Regular Schedule: 35 hours per week.
