Social Worker HC Supervisor 2

Supervise clinical and support staff providing mental health services and assist the Program Manager in developing, implementing, and evaluating program policies and procedures. Provide clinical social work evaluations, individual and group counseling, monitor medication side effects under the direction of a Psychiatrist, case management, crisis intervention, documentation, consultation, training, education, and referral.

Responsibilities

• 60% Administrative Management: Oversee daily operations, supervise staff, and ensure compliance with program policies and procedures.
• 20% Clinical Assessment: Conduct evaluations, provide individual and group counseling, and monitor medication side effects.
• 10% Consultation: Offer expert advice to multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders.
• 5% Training, Education & Research: Develop and deliver training programs, educate staff, and contribute to research initiatives.
• 5% Professional Development: Engage in ongoing learning and skill enhancement to maintain licensure and improve practice.

Requirements

• Active and unrestricted California Clinical Social Worker License (LCSW).
• Master’s Degree from an accredited School of Social Work.
• Clinical work experience in a social service, healthcare, jail, or correctional setting.
• One (1) year of supervisory experience.
• Thorough knowledge of DSM-5 and diagnostic criteria.
• Proven ability to manage conflict and apply employee coaching and counseling techniques.
• Knowledge of Collective Bargaining and Affirmative Action principles.
• Strong communication skills and ability to motivate employees.
• Ability to promote, coordinate, and facilitate a multidisciplinary team.
• Knowledge of child, elder abuse, and domestic violence reporting requirements, and laws regulating social work practice (e.g., Tarasoff, patient confidentiality).
• Ability to make appropriate interventions based on law and policy.

Preferred Qualifications

• Social Work experience in a jail or correctional setting.
• Knowledge and skills in individual, group, and family therapy.
• Familiarity with community resources.
• Advanced understanding of computer and MS Office functionality.

About the Role

This position is part of the Adult Correctional Mental Health (ACMH) program, a satellite contract program of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. ACMH provides mental health services to incarcerated individuals in Sacramento County jails and offers Jail Based Competency Treatment (JBCT) and Early Access and Stabilization Services (EASS) to inmates found Incompetent to stand trial.

Pay

$8,125.00–$15,225.00 per month. An 8% correctional site stipend is provided on an ongoing basis contingent upon the contract with Sacramento County.

Schedule

Four 10-hour shifts per week, including weekends.

Location

Sacramento County Main Jail and/or Rio Cosumnes Correctional Center.

• Ability to work in a highly stressful jail custody setting with incarcerated individuals, including potentially hazardous, crowded, malodorous, and noisy environments.
• Willingness to work under an institutional “No Hostage Policy.”
• Ability to pass and maintain the Sacramento Sheriff Department's Security Clearance.
• Willingness and ability to work flexible hours, including holidays and weekends.
• Employment is contingent upon clearing a criminal background check, drug screening, medical evaluation, and functional capacity assessment.
• This position is designated as a mandated reporter under CANRA and UC policy; compliance with training and procedures is required.
• As a condition of employment, the final candidate must disclose any final administrative or judicial decisions involving misconduct from the last seven years or any ongoing investigations.
