Responsibilities
- Strategizing with attorneys and other advocates
- Integral members of interdisciplinary defense teams
- Play critical roles in court and community-based client advocacy
- Identify, investigate, and contextualize the life circumstances of the people we represent to humanize them before the court, mitigate sentencing exposure, and address the underlying drivers and enmeshed consequences of criminal legal system involvement
- In close collaboration with attorneys, investigators, and other advocates:
- Engage in bail and release advocacy
- Coordinate with treatment programs and social service providers
- Develop and implement mitigation strategy throughout the life of a case
- Author mitigation reports
- Support the people we represent as they navigate high-stakes court proceedings and periods of incarceration
Qualifications
- Master's Degree of Social Work (M.S.W.) from an accredited School of Social Work
Pay
Salary range for candidates with 1-10 years of directly relevant experience: $87,177 to $114,577.
