Manhattan Psychiatric Center (MPC) is recruiting for a Social Work Assistant 2 to join their Mobile Integration Team (MIT) to provide case management and service coordination activities for individuals with mental illness. Candidates from outside or within State Service can apply.
Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload for individuals with more complicated behavioral disorders
- Interview individuals and their families to gather background information
- Prepare case histories and determine eligibility for services
- Advocate and assist individuals in identifying and obtaining services
- Supervise Social Work Assistant 1 and direct care staff
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a human service field and 2 years of social work experience (for hire under the NY HELPS program)
- Master’s degree in a human services field can substitute for one year of specialized experience
- For State Service candidates: reachable on the current Social Work Assistant 3 eligible list, or one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law
- For non-competitive promotion: 1 year of permanent service as a Social Work Assistant 1
- Valid driver’s license and ability to drive a state vehicle
- Must not be listed as an excluded individual or entity on any Federal or State Medicaid and Medicare exclusion lists
- May be required to become an enrolled Medicare provider, obtain a National Provider Identifier (NPI) number, and actively participate in billing through Medicare and Medicaid

This position is for the Mobile Integration Team, providing an array of mobile services and supports for adults, including on-site crisis assessment, family support, and respite. Background checks will be required.
