About the role

This position is responsible for directing one of three major components of the Services Division within the Department of Social Services. It involves supervising Social Work Supervisors and overseeing program operations within Children’s Services. The Program Manager ensures alignment with federal and state child welfare laws, NC Child Welfare policy, and Guilford County DSS strategic priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Direct one of three major components of the Services Division within the Department of Social Services
  • Provide direct supervision to unit supervisors of the various programs within the assigned area to ensure the delivery of services and compliance with program policies/regulations consistent with the Department's strategic plan
  • Participate in the DSS Strategic planning process
  • Submit budget recommendations for the Services Division
  • Cookordinate resources, policies, and procedures to achieve and maintain countywide service delivery
  • Review programs, goals, and objectives with supervisors
  • Provide direct supervision to six social work supervisors and one office support supervisor
  • Ensure compliance with standards/regulations; make adjustments or reassign staff based on mandates/priorities
  • Develop programs and resources to enhance service delivery. Participate in the interviewing and selection process by functioning as a panelist on the interview board
  • Write position descriptions and develop task analyses and interview questions when recruiting for positions

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications: MSW from an accredited school of Social Work and three years of social work or counseling experience, which includes two years of supervisory experience

Preferred Qualifications: Three years or more of supervisory experience in one of the following areas of Children's Protective Services: Adoptions, Assessments, Foster Care/Guardianship, or Treatment along with educational and experience requirements above.

Skills

Strong leadership skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to manage multiple tasks and projects, proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, knowledge of child welfare laws and regulations, and strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
