About the role

The School of Politics, Society, Justice and Public Service at Central Michigan University invites applications for a full-time fixed-term faculty position in the Bachelor of Social Work program beginning in August 2025. Instructional duties include teaching Generalist Social Work courses and the BSW Practicum Seminar and may include teaching Child Welfare. Administrative responsibilities include implementation of the State of Michigan-endorsed Child Welfare Certificate program and the Title IVE Workforce Development Program.

Responsibilities

  • Teach Generalist Social Work courses and the BSW Practicum Seminar.
  • May teach Child Welfare courses.
  • Implement the State of Michigan-endorsed Child Welfare Certificate program.
  • Implement the Title IVE Workforce Development Program.

Requirements

  • Masters in Social Work from an accredited program.
  • LMSW in the State of Michigan.
  • Two years experience in foster care, adoption and/or protective services.

Qualifications

  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without accommodation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Five years direct practice and administrative experience in a child welfare or other generalist social work setting.
  • Prior teaching experience in a BSW or MSW program and/or experience as a field/practicum instructor.
  • Proficiency with online instructional and documentation tools.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.

Benefits

This is a full-time, 9-month faculty position with a negotiable supplemental summer administrative appointment.

Pay

Salary is commensurate with experience.

Schedule

The position begins in August 2025 and ends in May 2027.
