Social Service Assistant

About the role

The Regional Crisis Center (RCC) is seeking Social Service Assistants to join our team. This role involves scheduling, coordinating, and supervising group activities at the RCC program. Key responsibilities include maintaining consistency and safety among clients, observing and recording behavior patterns, aiding in service planning, documenting necessary behaviors, helping clients with skill-building, and providing guidance on daily tasks such as housekeeping, chores, physical activity, recreation, hygiene, and school work. Additionally, you will assist in crisis intervention and de-escalation efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule, coordinate, and supervise group activities at the RCC program.
  • Maintain consistency and safety among clients.
  • Observe and record behavior patterns.
  • Aid in service planning and document necessary behaviors.
  • Help clients with skill-building and provide guidance on daily tasks.
  • Complete crisis intervention and de-escalate clients daily using crisis intervention techniques.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in social science or related fields or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: Previous experience working in a residential setting with at-risk youth required. Experience with manual restraints when needed.
  • Availability: Varies based on assigned shift (Day shift 7am-5pm, Swing shift 2pm-12am, Overnight 10pm-8am).
  • Certifications/Licenses: Eligible for QMHA preferred, valid Oregon Driver's license, and insurable under agency's insurance.

Qualifications

  • Eligible for QMHA certification preferred.
  • Prior experience working with combative at-risk youth, preferably in a residential setting, or experience in a challenging, high-paced environment.
  • The ability to maintain strong professional boundaries and confidentiality.
  • Pass crisis intervention training within the first month of employment.
  • Ability to perform specific manual restraints as specified by the state.

Skills
