About the role
The Social Media Lead, Crime Junkie is responsible for defining, building, and scaling the social presence of Crime Junkie, a fast-growing true crime brand. This role owns social strategy, content programming, and execution across multiple platforms while establishing the necessary systems and processes.
Responsibilities
- Own and lead the social strategy for Crime Junkie across Instagram, TikTok, X, Facebook, and emerging platforms
- Define and evolve Crime Junkie's social voice, content pillars, and platform-specific strategies
- Establish Crime Junkie social channels as a destination for original, engaging true crime content
- Identify opportunities to grow audience reach, engagement, and community loyalty
- Monitor audience behavior, platform trends, and true crime conversations to inform strategy
- Lead content creation and publishing across all Crime Junkie social platforms
- Develop and maintain a structured content calendar with visibility across stakeholders
- Balance timely, reactive storytelling with evergreen content programming
- Own posting cadence, content mix, and prioritization across channels
- Ensure content remains aligned with Crime Junkie's voice, values, and editorial standards
- Define, track, and analyze key performance metrics
- Use audience insights and performance data to continuously refine content strategy
- Test and iterate on formats, storytelling approaches, and distribution strategies
- Identify opportunities to improve engagement, reach, and audience retention
- Build and operationalize scalable workflows for content creation, review, publishing, and optimization
- Establish systems and processes that support efficient, high-quality execution
- Identify gaps in capacity, skill sets, and resources and recommend solutions
- Help define how the Crime Junkie social function evolves and scales over time
- Cross-functional Collaboration
- Partner with reporting, production, and marketing teams to align social content with broader initiatives
- Collaborate with the Audiochuck social team to integrate promotional efforts while preserving Crime Junkie's unique voice
- Support major launches, investigations, special projects, and audience engagement initiatives
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in social media, digital content, audience development, or related fields
- Proven track record of growing and scaling social channels with measurable audience impact
- Deep understanding of Instagram, TikTok, X, Facebook, and emerging social platforms
- Strong editorial judgment and ability to responsibly cover complex or sensitive topics
- Experience managing high-volume content calendars and content programming systems
- Data-driven mindset with experience using analytics to inform strategy and decision-making
- Experience mentoring, managing, or developing creators, producers, or junior team members
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment that requires both planned and reactive content execution
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
- Passion for true crime storytelling and an understanding of the responsibility that comes with covering these stories
