Description Summary

Leads crew and delegates assigned daily tasks. Supports Telluride Ski & Golf sustainability initiatives. Adheres to Telluride Ski & Golf policies and procedures. Knowledge of and adheres to Skier Responsibility Code and Colorado Skier Safety Act.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supports Telluride Ski & Golf sustainability initiatives.
  • Adheres to Telluride Ski & Golf policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of and adheres to Skier Responsibility Code and Colorado Skier Safety Act.
  • Collaborates with Snowmaking Director, Manager, or Snowmaking Technician daily.
  • Takes an active role in training the crews.
  • Able to start, operate, and shut down snowmaking system to obtain maximum snow production.
  • Reports to work as scheduled for any/all shifts, day or evening, and remains "on-call" throughout the snowmaking and ski season.
  • Assists Snow Technician with system repairs and maintenance.
  • Responsible for crew during their shift.
  • Responsible for the daily direction, coordination, and evaluation of their crew members.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

Qualifications

  • Three or more years of snowmaking experience.
  • Mechanic or Technical schooling helpful.

Physical Demands

  • Regularly stands, walks, uses hands to finger, handle, or feel, reaches with hands and arms, climbs or balances, stoops, kneels, crouches, or crawls.
  • Regularly lifts and/or moves up to 100 pounds.
  • Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, high, precarious places, outside weather conditions, extreme cold, risk of electrical shock, and vibration.
  • Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and toxic or caustic chemicals.
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.

Work Environment

  • Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, high, precarious places, outside weather conditions, extreme cold, risk of electrical shock, and vibration.
  • Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and toxic or caustic chemicals.
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.
  • May be required to ski/board ungroomed, thin, or icy terrain.

Pay and Benefits

The pay rate range for this position is $23 - $30/hr. Benefits include paid sick leave, ski pass, dependent passes (for full time commitment), discounted lift tickets, lift tickets at other CO resorts, discounted employee shuttles, discounted meals and lodging, and ski school discounts.
