Snowmaking Foreman | Full Time Year Round

About the Role

Assist the Snowmaking Manager in overseeing shift crew to ensure safe and efficient operation of snowmaking equipment. Set standards for safety and quality of work. As a customer-focused organization, a crucial part of the role is to get and keep guests.

Responsibilities

• Assist Snowmaking Manager in handling snowmaking personnel and related paperwork, including hiring, employee evaluations, disciplinary procedures, and scheduling for the snowmaking department.
• Conduct job and safety training for the department.
• Assist Snowmaking Manager in performing regular appraisals of crew's performance.
• Maintain shift efficiency and flexibility to cope with plan changes due to weather or temperatures.
• Regularly inspect and maintain all snowmaking equipment.
• Communicate with the Snowmaking Supervisor to stay updated on work procedures.
• Communicate with Ski Patrol daily regarding conditions, special needs, and current snow conditions.
• Stay updated on mountain operations and snowmaking procedures to provide a quality product daily, including following snow and valve plans.
• Contribute to team effort by participating in job sharing, maintaining resort cleanliness, ensuring guest and employee safety, attending safety meetings, and accepting diverse assignments.
• Meet service level objectives and department goals as set by the immediate supervisor.
• Prioritize safety by protecting self, co-workers, and guests, reporting hazardous equipment or situations, and following all company and department safety policies.
• Operate equipment and drive safely in accordance with the law and resort policies.

Supervisory Responsibilities

• Directly supervise 5 to 10 employees in the Snowmaking Department.
• Carry out supervisory responsibilities, including interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning, scheduling, directing work, appraising performance, rewarding, disciplining, and addressing complaints.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED; or one to three months of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum of 2 full seasons of on-hill snowmaking experience.
• Minimum of 1 full season riding a snowmobile in snowmaking conditions.
• Valid NH Driver’s License.
• Resort Certification for any used equipment.

Skills

• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in a professional manner.
• Basic math skills.
• Ability to solve practical problems and apply common sense understanding.
