Snow Maker Level Two

About the Role

WPR is seeking individuals with a passion for producing the finest quality snow for its members. Snowmakers are responsible for the day-to-day operation of snowmaking, ensuring the best possible snow surface. This includes mountain snow placement, maintenance, and adapting to changing weather conditions by following nightly plans.

Responsibilities

Snowmaker I (0-3 Years Experience)

• Operate snowmaking equipment under the direction of a shift supervisor.
• Adhere to the snowmaking plan and complete pre- and post-equipment inspections.
• Document and report any equipment or safety issues to the shift supervisor.
• Set up snowmaking guns and adjust hydrants to maintain snow quality.
• Maintain and operate all snowmaking equipment.
• Secure the work site at the end of the shift (e.g., mark holes, remove equipment keys).
• Conduct yourself professionally and uphold company safety policies.
• Perform tasks safely and efficiently in adverse weather conditions.

Snowmaker II (3+ Years Experience)

• Fulfill all Snowmaker I duties.
• Provide constant communication with all necessary departments and attend mountain operations meetings.
• Offer basic guidance to Snow Cat Operator I when needed.
• Relocate snowmaking equipment across the mountain as directed by a supervisor.
• Demonstrate a solid understanding of hydrant locations and pump house functions.
• Hook up and clean out snowmaking hoses and equipment regularly.
• Complete assigned tasks and projects in a timely manner with high quality.

Snowmaker III (5+ Years Experience)

• Fulfill all Snowmaker II duties.
• Represent the department professionally and collaborate with all Mountain Operation departments to meet resort objectives.
• Provide guidance to Snowmakers I and II as needed.
• Work closely with the Snowmaking Supervisor to ensure goals are met and challenges are addressed.
• Make safe and reasonable decisions for relocating snowmaking guns to accommodate unexpected weather changes.

Requirements

• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in extreme weather environments.
• Dependability and accountability for self and team.
• Problem-solving skills and adaptability to change.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work well with all types of personnel.
• Must be 18 years or older with a valid driver’s license.
• Safety-oriented with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to take direction and work well with others.
• Willingness to work long hours, including overnight shifts, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to work nights in all weather conditions, including cold temperatures and adverse weather.
• Seasonal position; MVR and background checks required.

Qualifications

• Hand-eye coordination and ability to follow directions.
• Physical ability to stand, walk, kneel, bend, lift, and pull repeatedly (must lift and/or drag 50+ pounds).
• Ability to work safely near heavy equipment, high voltage, and high-water pressures.
• Knowledge of electrical maintenance is a plus.
• Ski or snowboard abilities preferred.
