Snow Maker Level Three

About the Role

WPR is seeking individuals with a passion for producing the finest quality snow for its members. Snowmakers are responsible for the day-to-day operation of snowmaking, ensuring the best possible snow surface while following nightly plans adjusted for changing weather conditions. The role involves mountain snow placement, maintenance, and adherence to safety policies.

Responsibilities

• Snowmaker I (0-3 Years Experience):
  • Operate snowmaking equipment under the direction of a shift supervisor.
  • Adhere to the snowmaking plan and complete pre- and post-equipment inspections.
  • Document and report equipment or safety issues to the shift supervisor.
  • Set up snowmaking guns and adjust hydrants to maintain snow quality.
  • Maintain and clean snowmaking equipment.
  • Secure the work site at the end of the shift (e.g., marking holes, removing equipment keys).
  • Perform tasks safely and efficiently in adverse weather conditions.
  • Demonstrate professionalism and uphold company safety policies.
• Snowmaker II (3+ Years Experience):
  • Fulfill all Snowmaker I duties.
  • Provide constant communication with all necessary departments and attend mountain operations meetings.
  • Offer basic guidance to Snow Cat Operator I when needed.
  • Relocate snowmaking equipment across the mountain as directed.
  • Understand hydrant locations and pump house functions.
  • Hook up and clean out snowmaking hoses and equipment regularly.
  • Complete assigned tasks and projects with a high level of quality and timeliness.
• Snowmaker III (5+ Years Experience):
  • Fulfill all Snowmaker II duties.
  • Represent the department professionally and collaborate with all Mountain Operations departments.
  • Provide guidance to Snowmakers I and II.
  • Work closely with the Snowmaking Supervisor to meet department goals and address challenges.
  • Make safe and reasonable decisions for relocating snowmaking guns due to unexpected weather changes.

Requirements

• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in extreme weather environments.
• Dependability, accountability, and strong problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well with diverse personnel.
• Must be 18 years or older with a valid driver’s license.
• Safety-oriented with keen attention to detail.
• Ability to work long hours, including overnight shifts, weekends, and holidays.
• Comfortable working in cold temperatures and adverse weather conditions.
• Previous snowmaking experience preferred (required for Snowmaker II and III).
• Ski or snowboard abilities preferred.
• Knowledge of electrical maintenance is a plus.

Physical Demands

• Hand-eye coordination and ability to follow directions.
• Frequent standing, walking, kneeling, bending, lifting, pulling, and driving.
• Must be able to repeatedly lift and/or drag 50 pounds or more.
• Ability to work safely near heavy equipment, high voltage, and high-water pressures.

MVR and background checks are required. This is a seasonal, full-time position.
