About the role

The Security Officer safely performs all duties related to security. This position is for a person trained and willing to perform security and patrol‑related duties within the hospital, outpatient clinics, rehabilitation center, and Mississippi Cancer Institute facilities.

Responsibilities

• Patrol hospital, Southwest Outpatient Clinics, Southwest Outpatient Rehabilitation, Mississippi Cancer Institute buildings, parking lots, and grounds to assure security and prevent damage or loss of organization and/or employee property.
• Intervene and subdue patients, visitors, or employees during episodes of violent or irrational behavior.
• Monitor visitor flow at the security desk as assigned.
• Watch security monitor system and report any unusual activities.
• Pick up lab specimens and deliver mail or supplies when required.
• Work independently after minimal directions and instructions.
• Perform all duties in a reasonable and timely manner.
• Be willing to be reassigned during a shift according to security needs, workload, and staffing.
• Maintain a professional, non‑defensive manner when interacting with peers, physicians, administration, patients, and visitors.

Requirements

• Experience in the use of firearms and self‑defense techniques.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Professional demeanor and ability to relate respectfully with a diverse range of individuals.
• Willingness to adapt to changing security assignments and priorities.
