About the role

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the GI Endoscopy Suite coordinates total patient care and education for an assigned number of patients under the supervision of the Chief Nursing Officer, Associate Chief Nursing Officer, and RN-1, Nurse Manager or Charge Nurse. Patient assignments are adjusted based on department patient census and staffing levels.

Responsibilities

  • Uses the nursing process to safely coordinate total patient care and education.
  • Assists with orientation, preceptorship, and management of personnel assigned to the unit.
  • Ensures patient safety by monitoring vital signs, conducting physical examinations, and managing IV lines.
  • Documents total care given, reviews and maintains patient medical records, and accurately enters patient data, orders, and charges into the computer system.
  • Provides education and support to patients regarding their illnesses, treatments, and medications.
  • Maintains clinical competence and continuously learns to perform any job duty within the scope of RN practice.
  • Administers medication safely following the 6 rights of medication administration and demonstrates knowledge of high-risk medications.
  • Monitors and documents the patient's level of consciousness and performs wound care according to hospital protocol.
  • Promotes unit and organizational philosophy and goals; involves staff in the development of unit goals.
  • Supports and assists with staffing/scheduling policies to meet unit needs.
  • Participates in organizational committees as assigned.
  • Provides important information on trends related to patient outcomes to the Nurse Manager.
  • Maintains current knowledge of regulatory requirements and demonstrates professionalism.
  • Ensures patient throughput and customer service/satisfaction by providing kind, compassionate care to all patient types.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current Mississippi RN license.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Experience in a healthcare setting preferred.

$87,864 per year

Schedule
