SME IV – Scientific Data Analyst (Surveillance and Medical Intelligence)
Responsibilities
- Works with the Project PI and other biostatisticians to achieve the goals of the projects.
- Provides guidance in appropriate statistical methods as well as input into future design and methodology of studies.
- Provides statistical support via statistical consultation and data analyses throughout the courses of studies and prepares statistical reports for presentations and publications.
- Collaborates with the senior scientists to coordinate statistical analysis and protocol data.
- Provides relevant statistical and project status updates to research staff.
- Recommends and implements changes as needed.
- Takes a leadership role in organizing the data analytic team.
Qualifications
- Master's Degree, Minimum of 10 years' experience required.
- At least 13 years of full-time work experience analyzing large administrative healthcare data.
- At least 3 years of full-time experience accessing, navigating, and conducting analyses within the MHS Information Platform (MIP) or its predecessor systems.
- Capability to independently conduct queries of large military health administrative data to create analyzable data sets supporting surveillance and epidemiological studies.
- Capability to rapidly develop and execute analytic plans addressing specific to produce actionable responses to operational requests for information around mental health utilization, mental health care cost, mental health prevalence and other topics related to mental health across the MHS enterprise.
- Capability to evaluate incoming analytic tasking requirements and advise the government on appropriate analytic approaches.
- Experience in the design of clinical trials.
- Knowledge of medical science and research.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to make effective presentations and publish.
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
- US Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a T3/Secret Clearance, including background check and drug screening.
Physical Capabilities
- Lifting: Requires lifting materials up to 10 lbs.
- Ability to stand or sit at a computer for prolonged periods.
