SME IV – Clinical Psychologist (Clinical Support Tools)
Responsibilities
Examines, diagnoses, treats, and follows outpatients with psychological problems of all complexities.
Provides continuing follow-up for chronic outpatients with acute disorders and complications of these disorders.
Provides staff expertise in psychology that is pertinent in a wide variety of circumstances, to include management of patients with psychological disorders.
Examines and conducts thorough studies of presenting patients; evaluates laboratory and clinical findings, prescribing appropriate treatment or referring patient to appropriate specialty clinics.
Collaborates with physicians in other medical specialties on cases involving complicated and multi-faceted problems.
Follows through on all cases to insure effective comprehensive psychological services required.
Provides psychological support to special areas.
May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor.
Qualifications
- Doctoral degree required. Doctorate (PhD or PsyD) in Clinical Psychology.
At least 13 years of full-time post-doctoral work experience directly related to the practice of clinical psychology.
At least 3 years of full-time post-doctoral work developing tools or trainings to facilitate the delivery of evidence-based mental health care and promote knowledge of clinical recommendations and guidelines to multiple stakeholder groups.
Required Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
- Capability to translate complex clinical recommendations released by medical professional bodies or military/veterans governmental agencies into actionable information products designed to promote uptake and raise awareness of evidence-based care for mental health conditions.
Capability to manage the full cycle of product development for deliverables targeting healthcare providers, patients, family members and other Military Health System (MHS) stakeholders.
Capability to support the development of brief clinical recommendations based on the findings from focused evidence synthesis inquiries regarding the effective treatment of mental health conditions.
Ability to diagnose and treat psychological problems of all complexities.
Familiarity with military medical system desirable.
Physical Capabilities
- Lifting: Requires lifting materials up to 10 lbs.
Ability to stand or sit at a computer for prolonged periods.

Pay
The annual salary pay range for this position is $127,000-$170,000. Actual salary/hourly pay will be determined based on experience, education, etc.
Schedule
This position will take place primarily in an office setting.
