About the Role

Full-time night shift polysomnographic technologist positions with four days off per week. Schedules may include Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday or Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Primary location is Boise, with shifts also available in Nampa.

Responsibilities

• Know, understand, incorporate, and demonstrate the Organization's Mission, Vision, and Values in behaviors, practices, and decisions.
• Follow procedural protocols (e.g., Multiple Sleep Latency Test (MSLT), Maintenance of Wakefulness Test (MWT), parasomnia studies, PAP and oxygen titration) to ensure collection of appropriate data.
• Ensure accuracy of documenting services and supplies provided to patients for revenue management.
• Follow “lights out” procedures to establish and document baseline values (e.g., body position, oxyhemoglobin saturation, respiratory and heart rates).
• Perform polysomnographic data acquisition while monitoring study-tracing quality to ensure signals are artifact-free; identify and report signal abnormalities and make adjustments as necessary.
• Document routine observations, including sleep stages and clinical events, changes in procedure, and other significant events to facilitate scoring and interpretation of polysomnographic results.
• Implement appropriate interventions (e.g., actions necessary for patient safety and therapeutic intervention such as continuous and bi-level positive airway pressure, oxygen administration).
• Follow “lights on” procedures to verify integrity of collected data and complete the data collection process (e.g., repeat physiological and instrument calibrations and instruct the patient on completing questionnaires).
• Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to recognize and provide age-specific care for neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
• Perform difficult and unusual procedures and therapeutic interventions.
• Score sleep/wake stages by applying professionally accepted guidelines.
• Score clinical events (e.g., respiratory events, cardiac events, limb movements, arousals) according to center-specific protocols.
• Input orders and task information such as account activation, notification, and task completion in the PowerChart system.

Requirements

Polysom Tech I

• Must be enrolled in an Accredited Sleep Technologist S.T.A.R program through the AASM, or be an RRT or RPSGT.
• Registry in Polysomnography, Respiratory Care, or EEG required within 3 years of hire.
• Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross required at hire.
• Certified or registered as a Polysomnographic Technologist (CPSGT or RPSGT) by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT) preferred.

Polysom Tech II

• A license to practice respiratory care from the Idaho Board of Medicine or a permit to perform polysomnography related to respiratory care is required.
• Must be enrolled in or have completed the ASTEP program and register as an RPSGT within 1 year of hire by the Board for Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT).
• Required to be certified or registered as a Polysomnographic Technologist (CPSGT or RPSGT) by the Board for Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT).
• Minimum two years of direct clinical experience preferred.
• Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross required at hire.
• Training in electroneurodiagnostics, pulmonary technology, or respiratory care with emphasis on cardiorespiratory, neurological, and sleep/wake physiology preferred.
