About the Role
Full-time night shift positions with four days off per week. Schedules may include Sun, Mon, and Tue or Wed, Thu, and Fri. Opportunities available primarily in Boise, with some shifts in Nampa.
Polysom Tech I
Performs the basics of polysomnographic testing and associated interventions under the direct supervision of a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist.
Requirements
- Enrolled in an Accredited Sleep Technologist S.T.A.R program through the AASM, or RRT or RPSGT.
- Registry in Polysomnography, Respiratory Care, or EEG required within 3 years of hire.
- Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross required at hire.
- Certified or registered as a Polysomnographic Technologist (CPSGT or RPSGT) by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT) preferred.
Polysom Tech II
Performs comprehensive polysomnographic testing and analysis, and associated interventions under the general oversight of a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist and/or the Medical Director or designee.
Requirements
- License to practice respiratory care from the Idaho Board of Medicine or a permit to perform polysomnography related to respiratory care.
- Enrolled in or completed the ASTEP program and register as an RPSGT within 1 year from hire by the Board for Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT).
- Certified or registered as a Polysomnographic Technologist (CPSGT or RPSGT) by the Board for Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT).
- Minimum two years of direct clinical experience preferred.
- Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross required at hire.
- Training in electroneurodiagnostics, pulmonary technology, or respiratory care with emphasis on cardiorespiratory, neurological, and sleep/wake physiology preferred.
Responsibilities
- Knows, understands, incorporates, and demonstrates the Organization's Mission, Vision, and Values in behaviors, practices, and decisions.
- Follows procedural protocols (e.g., Multiple Sleep Latency Test (MSLT), Maintenance of Wakefulness Test (MWT), parasomnia studies, PAP and oxygen titration) to ensure collection of appropriate data.
- Ensures accuracy in documenting services and supplies provided to patients for revenue management.
- Follows “lights out” procedures to establish and document baseline values (e.g., body position, oxyhemoglobin saturation, respiratory and heart rates).
- Performs polysomnographic data acquisition while monitoring study-tracing quality to ensure signals are artifact-free; identifies and reports signal abnormalities and makes adjustments if necessary.
- Documents routine observations, including sleep stages and clinical events, changes in procedure, and other significant events to facilitate scoring and interpretation of polysomnographic results.
- Implements appropriate interventions, including actions necessary for patient safety and therapeutic intervention such as continuous and bi-level positive airway pressure, oxygen administration, etc.
- Follows “lights on” procedures to verify integrity of collected data and complete the data collection process (e.g., repeats physiological and instrument calibrations and instructs the patient on completing questionnaires).
- Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to recognize and provide age-specific care in the treatment, assessment, and education of neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
- Performs difficult and unusual procedures and therapeutic interventions.
- Scores sleep/wake stages by applying professionally accepted guidelines.
- Scores clinical events (e.g., respiratory events, cardiac events, limb movements, arousals) according to center-specific protocols.
- Inputs orders and task information such as account activation, notifications, and task completion in the PowerChart system.
