Responsibilities

  • Provide support, supervision, activities, and skills training to clients individually and/or in group settings as outlined in the treatment plan, including coping skills, self-care, social interaction skills, illness management, crisis management, daily living activities, community awareness, and transitional support.
  • Participate as an integral member of a multidisciplinary treatment team; attend team meetings, community partner meetings, and case staffing as assigned.
  • Conduct in-home skills training visits to assist clients with developing independent living skills.
  • Prepare materials for day treatment processes, including copying, preparing packets, setting up the group room, and cleaning/organizing the workspace.
  • Clean program facilities/areas as needed or assigned.
  • Provide services within the detoxification process, including non-medical monitoring, medication monitoring, basic risk assessment, and crisis prevention activities within the scope of practice.
  • Contact supervisors, primary clinicians, and appropriate emergency services as needed; coordinate with clinical staff for increased intervention or alternative placement.
  • Coordinate daily facility operations, including required monitoring, walkthroughs, and room searches of facility and clients according to program needs.
  • Transport clients to access services and appointments as authorized by the treatment plan.
  • Administer drug and alcohol screens/tests as needed and authorized by clinical staff or primary therapist.
  • Utilize assessments with clients as outlined in the program, such as the DLA-20, MIS, PHQ-9, GAD-7, SOWS, or CIWA.
  • Maintain case records and other documentation as outlined in agency policies; familiarize with and comply with all Volunteers of America Northern Rockies policies and procedures for assigned programs.
  • Participate in all supervision, staff meetings, and required training.
  • Maintain productivity/billable hour expectations as determined by leadership.

Work Environment

This job operates in a residential facility environment and routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptops, photocopiers, and smartphones.

Physical Demands

The employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Specific vision abilities include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. The role may require lifting files, opening filing cabinets, and bending or standing on a stool as necessary.

Required Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license
  • 1–2 years of training and/or experience in adult education, populations with learning disabilities, or severe mental illness
  • Must obtain and maintain valid certifications within the first 30 days of employment: CPR/First Aid and Mental Health First Aid; MANDT training will be provided

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Experience working with people experiencing mental illness and/or substance use problems
  • Experience working with people who are actively experiencing a crisis
  • Experience working with people in a residential service environment
  • 3–5 years of training and/or experience in adult education, populations with learning disabilities, or severe mental illness
