Life Skills Trainer

Responsibilities

  • Take basic vitals such as heart rate, temperature and blood pressure
  • Provide training, assistance and supervision to individuals receiving care in the areas of living skills, therapeutic recreation, and other forms of assistance in both residential and community settings.
  • Aid with daily activities such as meal preparation, personal hygiene, shopping, cleaning, and medication administration.
  • Check water temperature as required when assisting with bathing; participate in safety drills and protect persons being served in the event of emergency.
  • Prepare or support individuals to prepare food in accordance with planned menus and individual choice; know special diets and prepare individual meals accordingly; monitor mealtime and correctly implement any dining plans.
  • Accompany individuals to medical appointments; relay orders and information to and from medical providers as required.
  • If assigned, accurately administer and document delivery of medications and treatments; promptly report administration errors; maintain appropriate security of controlled medications and other medications and supplies.
  • Facilitate the working relationships between employers and individuals served, and support community involvement by accompanying them on outings, or providing transportation to work or other activities.
  • Work closely with our clinical staff to support the therapeutic and behavioral plans in place.
  • Perform daily and seasonal housekeeping as directed; maintain a neat, clean, and safe environment; report hazards or safety concerns.
  • Monitor environmental safety and may make minor repairs, change light bulbs, etc.; perform yard maintenance including keeping walkways safe and snow removal; report equipment or facilities requiring repairs to supervisor or maintenance personnel as required.
  • Perform other related duties and activities as required.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Valid CA driver’s license
  • Six months to one year of experience in the human services field
  • Minimum of 21 years of age
  • Successful clearance of background checks
  • A caring attitude with a dedication to assisting others
  • A strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and effective communication skills
  • A reliable, responsible attitude and a compassionate approach
  • A commitment to quality in everything you do

Pay

  • $17.00-$20.00 per hour, based on experience

Schedule

  • Evening shift: 4:00 pm to 12:00 am
  • Overnight shift: 12:00 am to 8:00 am
