About the role

Tidewater Community College seeks a part-time instructor in its non-credit programs under Workforce Solutions. These programs include continuing education for professional development and industry-recognized credential attainment, which can be offered at TCC campuses and other convenient locations.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize selected course materials to effectively provide instruction in a classroom and hands-on training lab environment to students with varying academic backgrounds and experiences.
  • Direct and assess hands-on training using mockups and related exercises.
  • Enforce safety rules and regulations in training.
  • Document and assess student performance and attendance.

Qualifications

  • A strong sense of commitment to safety and procedure compliance.
  • The ability to work independently and possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • The ability to multi-task with a friendly, approachable, customer service demeanor and a desire to teach.
  • Experience in the trade they are seeking to teach, such as Welding, Pipefitting, Marine Coatings, etc.

Additional Considerations

  • Knowledge of, and experience with, proven teaching strategies that promote student success.
  • Sufficient technology skills to work productively in an organization utilizing significant information and instructional technology resources.
