Skilled Trades Instructor

Part-time adjunct position located at the Clauson Center for Innovation and Skilled Trades on the Arnold campus. This role requires some regular in-person presence on campus or at alternative locations, depending on business needs.

About the Role

Instructor is responsible for classroom and lab instruction in the Skilled Trades: electrical, HVAC, low voltage, carpentry, construction, and plumbing trades. The instructor will follow the provided curriculum outline and learning expectations, with content housed in Canvas (online learning platform). A desire to share industry knowledge with future skilled trades workers is essential.

Responsibilities

• Prepare materials needed for course instruction, labs, testing, and supplies.
• Provide basic lab maintenance and track inventory of equipment and tools utilized.
• Familiarize students with the NEC code book as appropriate.
• Relate instruction and material to course objectives.
• Discuss and demonstrate workplace safety, personal safety, and power/hand tool safety.
• Communicate effectively and efficiently with students, other faculty, and staff.
• Submit grades, attendance, reports, and records in a timely manner.

Requirements

• Five (5) years of professional-level industry experience in electrical, HVAC, low voltage, carpentry, construction, or plumbing trades.
• Safety awareness and knowledge of the NEC Code book as appropriate.
• Thorough knowledge of the principles, terminology, tools, and equipment used in the trade.
• Some computer experience and the ability to effectively manage a classroom.
• Prior teaching experience is not required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Journeyman/Master or other industrial licensure.
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.

Pay

$45/hour

Schedule

Part-time, adjunct faculty position with hours available days, evenings, and weekends.
