ATS participates in the Department of Defense (DoD) SkillBridge Program, offering transitioning Active Duty Service Members hands-on civilian logistics experience in a highly regulated aviation environment. This opportunity is ideal for those with military backgrounds in supply, warehouse operations, transportation, planning, or inventory management. SkillBridge participants remain on Active Duty status and receive full military pay and benefits through the DoD. This is an unpaid training opportunity with ATS during the SkillBridge period.
About the role
As a SkillBridge Participant – Logistics, you will work alongside ATS logistics and supply chain professionals to gain exposure to civilian aviation supply operations. This position provides hands-on learning in inventory control, material movement, documentation, and coordination supporting aircraft maintenance and operational readiness.
Responsibilities
- Assisting with inventory management and material tracking.
- Supporting receiving, stocking, and issuing of aircraft parts and supplies.
- Learning logistics systems, documentation, and compliance requirements.
- Assisting with material coordination to support maintenance schedules.
- Participating in team meetings, training sessions, and process improvement activities.
- Maintaining up-to-date training in the ATS Plateau platform.
- Gaining exposure to civilian aviation supply chain best practices.
- Using forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks, and other material handling equipment to move, stage, and deliver parts, tools, and raw stock materials.
- Using sheet metal shears, band saws, skill saws, hot knives, vises, and other common tools to create tooling containers and shipping crates.
Requirements
- Active Duty Service Member eligible for the DoD SkillBridge Program.
- Within 180 days of separation or retirement from the military.
- Military Command approval required.
- Military experience in logistics, supply, transportation, or inventory preferred.
- High school diploma or GED required; aviation training or certifications preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to read, comprehend, and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to operate general office equipment, including computers, fax machines, and copiers.
- General knowledge of MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
- Ability to perform basic mathematical functions and solve practical problems.
- Good customer service skills.
- Ability to follow instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Physical Requirements
- Required to sit, use hands and arms, talk, and hear, and focus on objects close up.
- Required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
