About the role
ChildServe is seeking a skilled Skill Development Parent to provide individualized support to children with special needs in a home-based setting. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children ages 0-12 and possess strong communication and relationship-building skills.
Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one skill development activities tailored to each child's unique needs
- Support children in developing essential life skills such as self-care, socialization, and academic readiness
- Collaborate with families to set goals and track progress towards those goals
- Adapt activities to accommodate the physical and developmental abilities of the children
- Maintain a safe and nurturing environment for the children
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Special Education, or a related field
- At least 2 years of experience working with children with special needs
- Valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with children and families
- Experience with adaptive equipment and strategies for supporting children with diverse needs
- Excellent observational and assessment skills
- Knowledge of early childhood development and learning theories
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet individual student needs
