Sizing Technician I

About the role

Starting rate: $20+/hour. Under the direction of the Sizing Department Supervisor, the Sizing Technician operates grinding, crushing, and screening equipment to produce specific sizes or varieties of chemical pieces and powders according to route cards.

Responsibilities

• Operate work centers involved in grinding and crushing material, and screening materials to proper size while following route cards and supervisor’s instructions.
• Bag, package, weigh, and label materials.
• Set up grinding and crushing equipment with assistance from other Sizing Technicians.
• Maintain sizing equipment, including performing preventative maintenance as scheduled.
• Operate a dry box work center for handling air- or moisture-sensitive materials.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 1-year industrial or relevant experience (preferred).
• Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 30 pounds at shoulder height.
• While performing duties, exposure to low concentrations of fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, acids, bases, reactive materials, low-level radioactive materials, and extreme heat. All exposures are within limits established by federal and state regulatory bodies.
• Position is located at an export control-restricted work location or requires access to export-controlled information. Eligibility to access U.S. controlled technology under ITAR and/or EAR is required.
• Use of safety glasses, safety shoes, respirator, and protective clothing (e.g., uniform or lab coat) is required. Specialized protective gear may occasionally be needed.

Qualifications

Candidate must qualify as one of the following to be eligible for this position:

• A U.S. citizen, U.S. National, or lawful permanent resident of the U.S.
• A person admitted into the U.S. as an asylee or refugee.
• A national of a country not prohibited from accessing U.S. controlled technology (via a letter of assurance).
• A person approved for an export license by the governing agency.

Any job offer requiring export license approval is conditional on Materion’s ability to obtain the license in a timeframe consistent with business requirements.
