Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- College work in management, accounting, human resources preferred
- CDL license with appropriate endorsements and state certificates required
- Computer literacy, preferably in MS Office products
- Basic accounting, human resources, customer service and management skills needed
- Excellent written and oral communications ability required
- Ability to speak in public
- Working knowledge of District and/or Parish and school bus operations needed
- Training and recruiting skills required
- Prior management experience in school bus operations is a plus
Responsibilities
- Supervise the driver workforce and coordinate the daily Operations (drivers, routing, and vehicle activities)
- Maintain the highest level of ethical behavior with our customers, fellow employees and the communities we serve
- Conduct field observations and evaluations of driver performance, pickup and drop off location procedure, Passenger management, etc.
- Work with dispatcher, discipline officer, field trip and routing personnel to obtain the required skills and abilities to act independently in their job assignments
- (Perform these tasks where applicable)
- Maintain daily dispatch log including employee check in times, athletic trip schedules, bus & driver daily assignments so that anyone can look at the dispatch log and know who drove which route on which day
- Instruct all staff on use of incident form and process including immediately notifying the General Manager, District and/or Parish contact, school site contact in instances involving any injury, fight or assault of any kind, claim of inappropriate employee behavior, or anything of a sexual nature
- Establish employee check-in and checkout times and schedules; examine and review exceptions and monitor on time performance
- Follow up on employee attendance policies including counseling, warnings and recommending suspensions or terminations to the manager per company policy
- Manage all employee and customer complaints using location incident reports and process
- Supervise compliance of DS Bus policies, and administer counseling and written warnings
- Recommend employee terminations and discipline actions to the General Manager
- Work with safety and training department to identify safety issues, unsafe stops, etc. that need to be addressed
- Work with safety personnel on safety meeting content and attend each safety meeting and be involved as needed
- Cook off bus cleanings and monitor interior cleanliness
- Develop and maintain an efficient routing system using approved software
- Drive a school bus and other vehicles safely and efficiently, as required
- Prepare accurate information for timely state reporting
- Aid with telephone, driver, and customer contact as needed
- May complete other special projects and/or other duties as assigned
- Input of work orders/invoices/mileages into company maintenance software
- Follow processing protocol to ensure maintenance records are accurate, complete, and timely
- Aid manager and other departments with written correspondence and other reporting requirements as needed
- Aid manager in adhering to the locations purchasing and cost control measures
- Assist in administrative duties including assisting manager in ordering office supplies, office machine maintenance & repair, staying within budget parameters and preparing outgoing mail/deliveries

- Supervisory Responsibility - Supervisory experience preferred; specifically experience supervising a driver workforce

- Physical Demands - Be able to tolerate heat, diesel fuel fumes, odors, and moderate dust conditions
- Position Type/Expected Hours of Work - Work evenings or weekends as required
