About the role

The Sitework Manager leads the overall management of specialized trades for a project, both in an estimating and preconstruction capacity. Key responsibilities include developing budgets, assembling bids, creating scopes of work, and managing subcontractor relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Lead budget / bid / GMP assembly for the trade specialization
  • Proficiency and efficiency in quantity takeoff using takeoff software
  • Develop and qualify scopes of work incorporating operations standards
  • Participate in constructability reviews and system analyses
  • Strategically identify and align the right subcontractors for the market sector and scope
  • Develop GMP’s and competitive bids
  • Distribute documents without administrative support
  • Research and compile historical data for budget preparation and competitive bids
  • Assemble lessons learned from subcontractor buyout processes
  • Attend project meetings and client presentations
  • Coordinate with administrative staff to ensure the database is current with prequalified subcontractors
  • Participate in project meetings and client presentations as required
  • Attend pre-bid meetings and lead subcontractor walk-throughs
  • Manage subcontractor / supplier coverage and communication
  • Counsel, educate, and coach staff to develop necessary job skills
  • Work closely with assigned Operations, ICG, CRG, and other IM+D team members
  • Participate in the creation of proposal response documents
  • Affiliate with integrated construction group team members for 4D development
  • Develop phasing, sequencing, and site logistics strategies (as it relates to the trade specialization)
  • Build relationships with clients, design teams, and subcontractors
  • Participate in networking events / organizations

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or related field or equivalent construction experience
  • At least five (5) years’ experience in estimating for commercial construction, ideally using Agtek for Division 2/sitework/hardscape/landscape/utility/asphalt/paving
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of engineering and construction management, including safety, quality, and sustainability standards
  • Solid presentation experience
  • Ability in developing good relationships with clients, design teams, and subcontractors
  • Decision making, research, and analytical problem solving skills
  • Time management with the ability to organize, assess, and prioritize multiple tasks, projects, and demands, and to work independently
  • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills, and interact effectively at all levels within the organization
  • MS Office – Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook experience
  • Experience estimating with a variety of building types
  • Quantity Take-off software experience (On Screen Take-off or Sketch-up preferred)
  • PDF editor software experience (Brava or Bluebeam preferred)

Qualifications

  • Physical demands: Reaching above and below, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and bending; lifting/carrying up to 25 pounds; manual dexterity to operate office equipment, file, and perform specialized skills; high degree of concentration in a busy office environment
  • Working conditions: Noise level in the office work environment is usually moderate; exposure to higher noise levels and hazardous working conditions when working at job sites
