Duties/Responsibilities

  • Aid in the development, implementation, and coordination of safety training programs.
  • Carry out safety surveys and inspections, prepare reports detailing findings and recommendations, and follow up to ensure corrective measures are taken.
  • Investigate accidents and prepare reports identifying potential causes and hazards.
  • Collaborate with managers and supervisors to manage hazardous conditions and improve safety practices.
  • Oversee workplace repairs and installations to ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Manage and report on safety programs and plans at both company-wide and location-specific levels.
  • Support the development and implementation of safety policies and procedures compliant with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Prepare and present reports on accidents and violations, analyzing causes and recommending improvements.
  • Advise the safety director on compliance issues and preventative measures.
  • Ensure employee understanding and compliance with all safety company policies and procedures.
  • Monitor sub-contractors' adherence to job site safety rules and regulations.
  • Conduct quality control inspections on work completed by staff and verify that documentation is complete and comprehensive before submission to authorities.

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Proficient in written and oral communication.
  • Strong computer skills, including the ability to read, write, and understand instructional documents in English.
  • Ability to work effectively in high-pressure and stressful environments.
  • Basic mathematical skills, including the ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages, and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Knowledge of introductory algebra and geometry.
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office productivity suite.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 5 years of safety-related experience.
  • 2 years of experience in Quality Control tasks.
  • Thorough knowledge of health and safety laws and guidelines, with a commitment to continuous education in the safety industry.
  • Experience with fall protection, hazardous communications, and hazard assessments.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Prolonged periods of standing, bending, reaching, and working with hands.
  • Occasional periods of prolonged exposure to loud noises.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Standing, walking, reaching with arms and hands as necessary.
  • Hearing and seeing to meet position and safety requirement levels.
  • Occasional exposure to elements such as heat, cold, noise, dust, dirt, and chemicals.

Special Qualifications/Requirements

  • Pass a federal, state, or local government's background investigation.
  • Hold a valid state driver's license.
  • Complete a 30-Hour OSHA Construction Course.
