Duties/Responsibilities
- Aid in the development, implementation, and coordination of safety training programs.
- Carry out safety surveys and inspections, prepare reports detailing findings and recommendations, and follow up to ensure corrective measures are taken.
- Investigate accidents and prepare reports identifying potential causes and hazards.
- Collaborate with managers and supervisors to manage hazardous conditions and improve safety practices.
- Oversee workplace repairs and installations to ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Manage and report on safety programs and plans at both company-wide and location-specific levels.
- Support the development and implementation of safety policies and procedures compliant with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Prepare and present reports on accidents and violations, analyzing causes and recommending improvements.
- Advise the safety director on compliance issues and preventative measures.
- Ensure employee understanding and compliance with all safety company policies and procedures.
- Monitor sub-contractors' adherence to job site safety rules and regulations.
- Conduct quality control inspections on work completed by staff and verify that documentation is complete and comprehensive before submission to authorities.
Required Skills/Abilities
- Proficient in written and oral communication.
- Strong computer skills, including the ability to read, write, and understand instructional documents in English.
- Ability to work effectively in high-pressure and stressful environments.
- Basic mathematical skills, including the ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages, and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Knowledge of introductory algebra and geometry.
- Expertise in Microsoft Office productivity suite.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least 5 years of safety-related experience.
- 2 years of experience in Quality Control tasks.
- Thorough knowledge of health and safety laws and guidelines, with a commitment to continuous education in the safety industry.
- Experience with fall protection, hazardous communications, and hazard assessments.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Prolonged periods of standing, bending, reaching, and working with hands.
- Occasional periods of prolonged exposure to loud noises.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Standing, walking, reaching with arms and hands as necessary.
- Hearing and seeing to meet position and safety requirement levels.
- Occasional exposure to elements such as heat, cold, noise, dust, dirt, and chemicals.
Special Qualifications/Requirements
- Pass a federal, state, or local government's background investigation.
- Hold a valid state driver's license.
- Complete a 30-Hour OSHA Construction Course.
