Site Manager

About the role

The Site Manager oversees daily sanitation processes, budgets, and team members for an entire facility. This role involves tasks before, during, and after the sanitation shift to ensure the crew and floor are prepared, operations are safe and efficient, and inspections are completed. The Site Manager monitors site budgets to prevent overspending and ensures compliance with Food Safety and Safety KPIs. Strong leadership skills are required to manage a large team of hourly associates and supervisors.

Responsibilities

• Work with customer’s maintenance personnel pre-shift to ensure the floor is ready for sanitation.
• Conduct group lockout training with new supervisors.
• Issue new or replacement PPE to team members as necessary.
• Ensure all sanitation team members and supervisors are adequately staffed, trained, and equipped with necessary tools and PPE.
• Communicate special sanitation requirements to team members before the shift begins.
• Ensure all required safety procedures are communicated and understood by the team.
• Perform inspections of equipment cleaned and sanitized by the crew before, during, and after the sanitation process.
• Inspect and approve reporting and departure times of the entire crew.
• Accompany customer’s QA and USDA inspectors during Pre-Op inspections.
• Attend regular business reviews as a representative for QSI Operations.
• Maintain communication with the customer’s management team regarding sanitation operations.
• Align floor staffing to ensure a timely sanitation process and adjust for short crews as needed.
• Complete necessary reports and communicate effectively with customer personnel.
• Monitor employees’ weekly time cards and attendance in QSI’s ADP system.
• Maintain records of sanitation processes, deficiencies, and employee training.
• Perform duties of a sanitation team supervisor if necessary.
• Administer the company’s progressive discipline policy when required.
• Administer group Lock Out Tag Out procedures to secure facility equipment during sanitation.
• Operate special equipment such as forklifts or scissor lifts (with specialized training).
• Perform other duties or special projects as assigned.

Requirements

• Must be 21 years of age.
• Sound knowledge of sanitary restoration steps.
• Knowledgeable in industrial safety practices (e.g., Lock Out/Tag Out, HAZCOMM).
• Familiarity with GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices).
• Ability to communicate with team members, managers, customer staff, and government officials.
• Willingness to work all shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to work in food processing plant conditions (hot, cold, loud, wet).
• Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor.
• Work effectively with all levels of the organization, including management and hourly employees.
• Dependable, competent, and willing to follow up on assigned tasks.

Qualifications

• Required: High school diploma or GED.
• Preferred: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree, or some college courses.
• Required: 5-6 years of verifiable supervisory experience in the Protein Processing industry or another heavy industry field, or completion of the QSI Site Management Training Program.
• Preferred: 6+ years of experience in the protein industry as a supervisor or in a quality assurance position.

Skills

• Strong management and leadership skills.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) highly preferred.
• Experience with automated time and attendance systems (e.g., Kronos, ADP) preferred.
