About the Role

The Site Leader will provide world-class jobsite leadership for large, long-duration, high-profile projects for Vertiv power and/or thermal equipment. As the primary Vertiv Service on-site technical representative for large jobs, the Site Leader oversees projects from construction start through start-up, site acceptance testing, and project completion. This role requires establishing, growing, and maintaining excellent rapport with customers, co-workers, sales representatives, and other stakeholders. The Site Leader works closely with the assigned Project Manager to drive cost controls, schedule adherence, resource management, and a positive customer experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide jobsite construction and technical leadership for large projects, with a working knowledge of critical infrastructure equipment in data centers, including Vertiv-manufactured equipment.
  • Lead a multi-disciplinary on-site team consisting of Project Leaders, Installers, Technicians, Customer Engineers, and subcontractors.
  • Represent Vertiv at daily customer meetings, addressing technical requirements and coordinating activities with other parties on-site.
  • Lead and support start-up and site testing activities for assigned projects, ensuring sufficient manpower on-site each day.
  • Assist during start-up and site testing as necessary, depending on manpower availability and site location.
  • Provide daily status reports to Service Management, Project Management, and sales representatives.

Technical Responsibilities

  • Maintain current knowledge of Vertiv equipment start-up and commissioning processes, procedures, and tools.
  • Stay updated on Safety Bulletins, Safety Field Change Notices, Field Change Notices, and Service Tips.

Safety Responsibilities

  • Lead daily Vertiv toolbox talks, pre-job safety walks and inspections, and drive corrective/preventative actions as needed.
  • Ensure adherence to all site and Vertiv Safety policies on job sites.
  • Operate safely in accordance with published safety guidelines and wear appropriate PPE as required.
  • Adhere to the "14 hours rule" for work hours policy.
  • Report all work-related accidents or injuries within 24 hours.
  • Model safe behavior and use STOP WORK Authority, Good Catch engagement, and timely closure of corrective/preventative actions.

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Ensure adherence to the Vertiv Warranty process in partnership with the Project Manager.
  • Provide accurate and timely reporting, including timecards, expense reports, mileage reports, SR/task closure, and forms.
  • Support the Project Manager in obtaining necessary technical data to maintain project systems.
  • Maintain company property, including credit cards, PPE, test equipment, laptop, and smartphone, according to company policies.

Customer Satisfaction Responsibilities

  • Provide proper and adequate communication to internal and external customers.
  • Ensure daily alignment of customer expectations with Vertiv activity and drive clarification if misalignment occurs.
  • Maintain customer satisfaction rates according to company guidelines.

Qualifications

  • ASEET or ASMET preferred, or equivalent industry experience, specifically leading and actively participating in start-up and commissioning of power and/or HVAC equipment.
  • Six years’ military experience in a related field or a minimum of 2 years of experience in industrial construction management.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to operate independently.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to build and maintain trusting customer relationships.
  • Collaborative and cooperative in high-stress environments.
  • Able to communicate at all levels of an organization with executive presence.
  • Ability to quickly respond to changing customer priorities without disruption.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical one-line diagrams and blueprints.
  • Product certifications up to date.
  • Performance evaluation rating of "meets all aspects of job requirement" or better.
  • Consistent performance and customer relation skills.

Technical Skills

  • Ability to make immediate site evaluations, including assessing environmental temperature and general operating conditions without supervision.
  • Ability to summarize and report all work-related tasks performed.
  • Independently evaluate, recognize, and recommend acceptable customer solutions based on site evaluation.
  • Recommend and direct activities at a customer site by leading technical activities of other technicians.
  • Provide on-site customer consultation with the assistance of Project Leader(s).
  • Capable of providing project leadership and on-site direction for assigned projects.
  • Expert in COHE procedures and site acceptance testing procedures and equipment.

Computer Skills

  • Advanced word processing and report generation.
  • Spreadsheet processing and data analysis.
  • Proficiency with electronic mail and testing equipment/data analysis programs.
  • Familiarity with computer networks.

Working Conditions

  • Long-term assignments ranging from 4 weeks to 12+ months based on project scope and schedule.
  • If assigned to a project not near the Site Leader’s residence, travel will consist of a field rotation: 3 consecutive weeks on-site followed by 1 week at the home office for billable tasks and administrative duties.
  • Jobsites may include industrial new construction (greenfield) or retrofit construction (brownfield).
  • Flexible schedules, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
  • Valid driver’s license required; deployable in the event of emergencies.

Physical Requirements

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects/tools/components, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk, hear, and smell.
  • Frequently required to sit and climb or balance.
  • Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Must consistently lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 75 pounds.
