About the Role

As a Site HSE professional you will ensure that legal requirements and other requirements of Valeo Group are identified, established and implemented. You will also ensure that the management system which is put in place does contribute to continuous improvement in performance. In accordance with the country's regulations and Group requirements, and certified Management System, the role of the HSE Professional/Engineer is to organize and manage all internal and external risks, including:

  • Check that safety and security equipment are in compliance with requirements and in good condition
  • Carry out risk analysis and monitor regulatory survey
  • Establish the site “Health, Safety, Security and Environment” operation procedures and oversee their application
  • Carry out inspections and internal audits, make recommendations and specify corresponding actions as well as the responsibility for implementing it
  • Implement and monitor action relating to the handling of any non-compliance revealed by the inspections, internal audits and external audits, taking the necessary investments into account
  • Be aware of developments in the legislation and escalate any potential non-compliance

Technical aspects

  • Ensure continuously that all buildings, process, equipment, machines, installations, all devices, materials and products of the site present the minimum hazard, through the involvement upstream of the projects, the issuance of HSE specifications, reception and the audit of these means on a continuous basis
  • Planning and monitoring the implementation of all corrective or preventative improvement actions in the technical field following internal/external audits, inspections and exchange of best practices
  • Site HSE Professional/Engineer acts as a Valeo Work Coordinator and Ergonomics Leader

Organizational aspects

  • Analyze and update the regulatory compliance of its site and maintain it continuously
  • Perform risk assessments for all HSE fields on the site, including emergency mode, non-prescribed / unplanned work such as contractor works, unplanned maintenance, deviation to validated process, and each deviation is captured in a database with an updated mitigation plan to cover deviation lead time
  • In each area, set up manuals, procedures, instructions, visual standards and signs
  • Ensure an audit by OJT that safety tools, safety standards are adapted, known, understood, applied, and enforced by management
  • Communicate internally (managers and employee representatives) and externally (authorities, inspectors, neighbors, other companies, etc.) on HSE issues
  • Assess and monitor safety risks from deviations to standard
  • Monitor incidents and accidents on the site using QRQC

Behavioral aspects

  • Develop manager Safety Skills using Safety First, Risk Hunting, Safety Talks and Safety Briefing tools to be certified and autonomous leadership in safety
  • Train people to react in emergency and unexpected situation

Requirements

  • 3-5 years safety (basic industry environmental knowledge preferred)
  • OSHA workplace requirements and general industry standards knowledge
  • Knowledge of OSHA injury reporting
  • OSHA 30 or 40 hour industry training
  • Automotive manufacturing experience preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in Health, Safety and Environmental majors, or related field

Work Location

This position is located in both our Auburn Hills, MI and Troy, MI locations. Candidates must be able to work from both offices as business needs require and be flexible with their work location.
