About the Role

As a Site HSE professional, you will ensure that legal requirements and other Valeo Group requirements are identified, established, and implemented. You will ensure the management system contributes to continuous improvement in performance. Responsibilities include:

• Checking that safety and security equipment comply with requirements and are in good condition.
• Carrying out risk analysis and monitoring regulatory surveys.
• Establishing site Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSE) operational procedures and overseeing their application.
• Conducting inspections and internal audits, making recommendations, and specifying corresponding actions.
• Implementing and monitoring actions to handle non-compliance from inspections, audits, and external audits, including necessary investments.
• Staying aware of legislative developments and escalating potential non-compliance.

Technical Aspects

• Ensuring all buildings, processes, equipment, machines, installations, devices, materials, and products present minimum hazards through upstream project involvement, HSE specifications, and continuous audits.
• Planning and monitoring the implementation of corrective or preventative improvement actions following audits, inspections, and best practice exchanges.
• Acting as Valeo Work Coordinator and Ergonomics Leader.

Organizational Aspects

• Analyzing and updating the site’s regulatory compliance continuously.
• Performing risk assessments for all HSE fields, including emergency modes, unplanned work (e.g., contractor works, unplanned maintenance), and capturing deviations in a database with mitigation plans.
• Setting up manuals, procedures, instructions, visual standards, and signs.
• Ensuring safety tools and standards are adapted, known, understood, applied, and enforced through on-the-job audits.
• Communicating internally (managers, employee representatives) and externally (authorities, inspectors, neighbors, other companies) on HSE issues.
• Assessing and monitoring safety risks from deviations to standards.
• Monitoring incidents and accidents on-site using QRQC.

Behavioral Aspects

• Developing managers' safety skills using tools like Safety First, Risk Hunting, Safety Talks, and Safety Briefings to achieve certified and autonomous safety leadership.
• Training people to react in emergencies and unexpected situations.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of safety experience (basic industry environmental knowledge preferred).
• Knowledge of OSHA workplace requirements and general industry standards.
• OSHA injury reporting knowledge.
• OSHA 30 or 40-hour industry training.
• Automotive manufacturing experience preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in Health, Safety, and Environmental majors or a related field.

Work Location

This position is located in both our Auburn Hills, MI and Troy, MI offices. Candidates must be able to work from both locations as business needs require and be flexible with their work location.
