Key Responsibilities
- Must be able to run, maneuver, and drive the Shuttle Buggy.
- Heavy equipment experience is a plus.
- Inspects equipment before operating to make sure it is in good working order and ready for the day, including post shift inspection for the same.
- Practices awareness of others working alongside the machines, and exercises safety practices at all times.
- Safety is essential!
- Perform general laborer duties associated with asphalt paving, patching, or prep crews.
- Will be expected to leave the machine as required by foreman and job perimeters to help shovel, rake, and handle other tools and equipment.
- May be called upon to run power tools.
- Demonstrate coordination of function and possess the strength required to use all controls of the equipment on heavy equipment safely.
- Able to remain stationary in the seat or operating area of the equipment for prolonged periods.
- Signal operators of construction equipment to facilitate alignment and movement of materials.
- Aid in the placement, moving, and dismantling of signs, barricades, cones and other traffic control devices as needed.
- Problem-solving skills to diagnose issues with equipment.
- Strong oral communication skills to interact with other workers on the jobsite.
- Perform other duties as requested and assigned.
Qualifications
- 2-3 years' experience within the asphalt industry.
- 1-2 years' experience of operating paving equipment.
- Must be organized with a detail-oriented mindset.
- Must be positive, friendly, and professional.
- Ability to work well with others in a group or one-on-one setting.
- Promote, execute and adhere to the company's safety policy, and encourage all employees, subcontractors and consultants to adopt safety as a culture.
- Work in a safe, responsible manner to not intentionally or unintentionally injure oneself, or endanger the wellbeing of others.
- Promote a team approach and maintain dialogue with all employees to exchange information and gather ideas.
- Collaborate with any project teams on other special initiatives, as required.
Knowledge/Skill Requirements
- Mid-Level Position
- Working knowledge of asphalt production and associated equipment, and an understanding of operations and safety requirements is required.
- Familiarity with OSHA regulations.
- High School Diploma or GED preferred, but not required.
