About the role
The Shrink Post Processing Area Supervisor reports to the Inspection Manager and is responsible for the overall performance of all post-processing processes across all four production shifts. Seaming, Sheeting, and Air Inspection personnel across all shifts report to this position.
Responsibilities
- Own the performance of Seaming, Sheeting, Air Inspection, and all other Shrink Post Processing processes across all four production shifts.
- Supervise personnel, ensuring clear expectations, consistent accountability, training, engagement, and motivation.
- Maintain visibility with all four shifts and provide off-shift support when production, staffing, quality, or equipment needs require it.
- Set consistent priorities and performance expectations across shifts and ensure effective shift-to-shift communication and handoff.
- Monitor throughput, production flow, and machine adherence; identify performance gaps and constraints; and take timely action to meet established targets and keep scheduled work moving.
- Match staffing and employee skill levels to workload, equipment availability, and production priorities to improve labor utilization.
- Adjust labor assignments when conditions change and minimize downtime of people and equipment by improving workflow and resource allocation.
- Coordinate training with qualified trainers and confirm employees are prepared before they are assigned to work independently.
- Counsel employees on performance, attendance, communication, and workplace behaviors on a continual basis.
- Monitor and approve clock records and PTO requests in accordance with established company practices.
- Drive adherence to established quality processes, work-order requirements, and required quality documentation.
- Communicate production, equipment, material, quality, or safety issues to the appropriate manager or support department in a timely manner.
- Promote efficient changeovers, equipment care, housekeeping, and adherence to established safety practices.
- Learn and understand the current process before recommending or implementing changes, and support targeted continuous improvement activities.
Requirements
- Experience working in a fast-paced production environment is required.
- Previous supervisory, team-lead, or employee-development experience is preferred but not required.
- Shrink seaming experience is preferred but not required.
Qualifications
- Leadership ability to motivate a team while maintaining clear standards and accountability.
- Ability to lead consistently across multiple production shifts and balance competing operational needs.
- Ability to evaluate workload, staffing, employee skills, and production priorities to use labor effectively.
- Ability to develop cross-functional employees and build reliable backup coverage for critical processes.
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving, prioritization, and follow-through skills.
- Able to read and understand production schedules, work-order information, reports, and operating data.
- High attention to detail and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced production environment.
- Intermediate computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft applications.
